Block or mute someone

Both live on the person's profile (⋯ menu) and in Settings, Privacy & safety, where your blocked and muted lists are. Blocking severs the relationship both ways: any follows between you are removed, and neither of you can follow, send follow requests to, or subscribe to the other. A blocked person also stops generating credit and mention notifications for you. Blocking does not hide your public posts from them — a public post is public, and a signed-out browser could see it regardless. If someone is harassing you, block them and report them; reports are what brings moderation in. Muting is quieter: you stop seeing suggestions from them, they are not told, and nothing else changes.
