Hytale Magazine — Community Guidelines

Version 2026.08.1 · effective 2026-08-01

Effective Date: 1 August 2026

Hytale Magazine is a fan-run magazine and community feed about Hytale. We are not a social network. We are a place where fans share their excitement about the game through posts, art, and discussion.

These guidelines exist to keep this space friendly and safe for everyone, including the many teenagers in our community. The rules are real. We enforce them.

For rules about what content is allowed (fan art attribution, NSFW, advertising, copyright), see our Content Policy. These guidelines are about how you treat other people.

1. What Is Not Allowed

1.1 Harassment and Bullying

Do not target other users with repeated hostile messages, personal attacks, or intimidation. This includes dogpiling (encouraging others to go after someone), mocking someone's appearance or voice, and sending unwanted messages after being asked to stop.

Example: repeatedly commenting on someone's posts just to insult their work.

1.2 Hate Speech and Discrimination

Do not attack or demean people based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic. This applies to slurs, stereotypes, and dehumanizing language, whether directed at a specific person or at a group.

Example: using a racial slur as a "joke" in a post or comment.

1.3 Threats and Incitement to Violence

Do not threaten to harm anyone, encourage others to commit violence, or glorify real-world violent acts. This includes vague threats ("someone should teach you a lesson") and specific ones.

Example: telling a user you will find out where they live.

1.4 Sexualization of Minors

This is an absolute, zero-tolerance rule.

Any content that sexualizes, depicts, or promotes the sexual exploitation of minors, whether real or fictional, results in an immediate, permanent ban with no appeal. We will also report such content to the relevant authorities where required by law.

There are no warnings for this. There is no second chance.

1.5 Doxxing and Sharing Personal Information

Do not publish or threaten to publish another person's private information without their consent. This includes real names, addresses, phone numbers, school or workplace details, photos taken without permission, and any other information that could identify someone offline.

Example: posting a screenshot of someone's social media profile to reveal their real name.

1.6 Impersonation

Do not pretend to be someone you are not. This includes impersonating other community members, Hypixel Studios employees, or Hytale developers. Do not use nicknames, avatars, or bios that could reasonably mislead others into thinking you are affiliated with Hypixel Studios.

Example: setting your nickname to "Hytale_Dev_Official" when you are not a developer.

1.7 Spam and Manipulation

Do not post repetitive, meaningless, or bulk content. Do not use bots, alt accounts, or coordinated groups to artificially inflate engagement (likes, views, shares).

Example: posting the same link in every comment section.

1.8 Ban Evasion

If your account has been suspended or banned, do not create a new account to get around it. Ban evasion results in immediate removal of the new account.

1.9 Exploits and Malicious Links

Do not share links designed to harm others (phishing, malware, IP grabbers). Do not exploit bugs in the Service to access other users' data, bypass restrictions, or disrupt functionality. If you find a security vulnerability, report it to legal@hytalemagazine.com instead.

Example: posting a link disguised as a Hytale trailer that actually leads to a phishing page.

2. How to Report a Violation

If you see something that breaks these guidelines, report it.

How to report: use the in-app support ticket system, or email legal@hytalemagazine.com.

What to include in a report:

A link to or screenshot of the content or behavior.

A brief description of what rule you believe was broken.

Any additional context (for example, prior interactions with the person).

What to expect: our moderation team reviews reports manually. We are a small team without round-the-clock coverage, so we cannot guarantee a specific response time. We aim to review reports within a few days of receiving them. Urgent matters (threats, CSAM, doxxing) are prioritized.

Community guideline reports. If you report a violation of these Community Guidelines, we will review it and take action if warranted. You will not receive a detailed breakdown of what action we took against another user. We do this to protect the privacy of all parties involved. If your report results in content being removed, you may notice the content is no longer visible.

Notices about illegal content (Article 16 DSA). If you believe content on the Service is illegal under the law of an EU Member State, you may submit a formal notice under Article 16 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065. To do so, email legal@hytalemagazine.com with the subject line "DSA Article 16 Notice" and include: (a) an explanation of why you consider the content to be illegal, (b) the exact URL or location of the content on the Service, (c) your name and email address, and (d) a statement that you believe in good faith that the information in your notice is accurate. For notices specifically about copyright infringement, use copyright@hytalemagazine.com instead (see our Copyright Policy at hytalemagazine.com/legal/copyright). We will confirm receipt of your notice without undue delay, and we will inform you of our decision regarding the content, including information about the possibilities for redress available to you.

3. What Happens After a Report

A member of our moderation team reviews the reported content or behavior against these guidelines. We look at context: a single heated comment is different from a pattern of targeted abuse.

What the person who was reported sees: if we take action, we will provide a statement of reasons that includes:

(a) a description of the restriction applied and its scope;

(b) the facts and circumstances we relied on, including whether the investigation originated from a user report;

(c) the specific rule violated (a section of these Community Guidelines, the Content Policy, or applicable law);

(d) whether the decision was made with or without the use of automated tools (currently, all our moderation decisions are made manually);

(e) how to appeal the decision (see Section 5) and the possibility of seeking judicial redress.

This statement will be provided on a durable medium (email or a downloadable notice in your account). For content that is manifestly illegal (such as child sexual abuse material), we will inform you of our decision and the reasons, but may limit the detail provided.

What the person who reported sees: we may confirm that the report was reviewed. We do not share the specific outcome for the other user. For notices submitted under Article 16 DSA, see Section 2.

4. Enforcement Measures

We have five measures available, listed from lightest to most severe. We apply the measure that fits the situation. Most first-time violations that are not severe start with a warning. Severe violations (threats, CSAM, doxxing) skip straight to suspension or ban.

Measure What It Means Typical Use Duration
Warning A written notice that you broke a rule. No restrictions on your account. First-time minor violations: a rude comment, light spam, an unintentional guideline breach N/A (stays on your record)
Mute You cannot post, comment, or interact with the community feed. You can still read content and access your account. Repeated minor violations after a warning, or a moderate violation like a hostile argument 24 hours / 3 days / 7 days at moderator discretion
Cooldown Your ability to perform certain actions (posting, commenting) is rate-limited. You can still use the Service, but at a reduced pace. Spam, rapid-fire posting, low-level manipulation 24 hours / 48 hours at moderator discretion
Suspension Your entire account is temporarily deactivated. You cannot log in or access any features. Serious violations: harassment campaigns, hate speech, threats, or accumulation of multiple prior measures 7 days / 14 days / 30 days at moderator discretion
Ban Your account is permanently closed. The most serious violations (CSAM, doxxing, credible threats of violence), or repeated serious violations after prior suspensions. Also applied for ban evasion. Permanent

Escalation. Enforcement history matters. A user who has already received a warning and a mute and then breaks a rule again can expect a suspension, not another warning. We do not follow a rigid "three strikes" sequence: the severity of the violation matters more than the count.

Content removal. Regardless of which measure is applied, we may remove the specific content that violated these guidelines.

5. Appeals

If you believe a moderation decision was wrong, you can appeal.

How: send an email to legal@hytalemagazine.com with the subject line "Appeal" and include your username and a description of why you think the decision should be reconsidered.

Deadline: appeals must be submitted within 14 days of the enforcement action.

What we review: we re-examine the content or behavior, the rule it was matched against, and any context you provide. Appeals are reviewed by a moderator, who may be the same person who made the original decision. We commit to considering your arguments on their merits.

What is final:

Bans for sexualization of minors (Section 1.4) cannot be appealed.

Bans for ban evasion (Section 1.8) cannot be appealed.

All other decisions can be appealed once. The appeal outcome is final.

Timeline: we aim to resolve appeals within 14 days, but cannot guarantee a specific timeframe.

6. A Note on How We Work

Moderation decisions are made by people, not automated systems. We do our best to be fair and consistent, but we are a small volunteer team and we can make mistakes. If you think we got something wrong, the appeals process in Section 5 exists for exactly that reason.

We also ask for patience. We do not have 24/7 coverage. Reports submitted on a weekend might not be reviewed until the following week. This does not mean we are ignoring them.

These guidelines may be updated from time to time. Changes are communicated as described in our Terms of Use.

Child Safety Standards

Hytale Magazine has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), and for child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This section is our published child safety standard.

What is prohibited. You may not upload, post, link to, request, or share any material that sexualises a minor, or that depicts, promotes, or facilitates the sexual abuse or exploitation of a minor. This applies to photographs, video, drawings, renders, computer-generated imagery, text, and to game content of any kind. It applies whether or not the depiction is presented as fictional. You may not use the Service to groom, solicit, or sexually harass a minor, and you may not use it to arrange contact with a minor for those purposes.

Minimum age. Accounts are for people at or above the minimum age set out in our Terms of Use. If we learn that an account belongs to someone below it, we close the account and delete its data.

How to report it. Every post in the app and on the website carries a report control. Choose the report reason that fits and describe what you saw — "Other" accepts free text if none of the listed reasons is right. Reports about child safety are treated as the highest priority in our moderation queue, ahead of everything else in it. You do not need an account to reach us: you can also write to legal@hytalemagazine.com, and you do not have to identify yourself.

What we do about it. We review reports of this kind before any other category. Where a report is substantiated we remove the content, terminate the account permanently, and preserve the material and the associated account records for the authorities rather than deleting them. We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the competent authorities, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) where US law applies and the relevant national authority in our own jurisdiction, and we comply with lawful requests from them. We do not restore terminated accounts in this category and we do not offer an appeal that would place the material back on the Service.

Point of contact. Questions from regulators, hotlines, researchers, and platform partners about our child safety practices: legal@hytalemagazine.com. We answer from a real address monitored by the operator of the Service, SIA "Synchron", and not from an unattended mailbox.
